PORT  ISAAC MUSIC  FESTIVAL 2011

Just spent a very entertaining afternoon at the PORT ISAAC

MUSIC FESTIVAL 2011

Lucky to find a parking space , but that having been achieved ,

and a warming cup of tea hastily consumed , we found

ourselves re located to the Village Hall . ( Always wondered

why trees grew horizontally on the North Coast ! )

The Local Ladies started with some great  harmony

singing . . . .They were called  ’ GULLS  ALOUD ‘ !  ,

led by a very enthusiastic piano playing Conductress .

We then were entertained by what I would describe

as a ‘ Country and Western  ’ Dirt Band’ ‘ a strange

collection of personnel but unusually endearing at the

same time  ! !  . . . A short guitar recital by a man who

had never played in front of a baying crowd before , he

was visibly shaking with nerves , but still managed to

get a well deserved round of applause from the appreciative

crowd .  Next came a more conventional line up with

male vocalist being harmonised with a very effective female

singer , at the right level to give added interest to a very

competent all round sound .

Then came the stars of the show . . . four young men

( all either 18 or 19 ! )  called  ’FLATS and SHARPS ‘  I must

admit the name does NOT do them justice . . ..  They played

their teenage socks off in a very professional way , keeping

the fidgety crowd more than happy with their ‘Toe Tappin”

Bluegrass music . . . Fabulous! . . . Line up was Mandolin,

Double Bass , Banjo and six string acoustic Guitar and added

bonus  ,  ALL four of them can sing and they harmonise too !

They achieved three encores and one foot rumbling , cheering

shout from the crowd for a final FOURTH number . . . all

absolutely well deserved . . .   GREAT STUFF LADS ! !
