EARTHWIND and FIRE
at B’RUM
Earth Wind & Fire played three UK arena gigs this week and our lucky crew member was fortunate
enough to catch them at the NIA in Birmingham.
Featuring Philip Bailey, whose son was on backing vocals and percussion, brothers Verdine and
Maurice White, and Ralph Johnson, they opened with their hit ‘Boogie Wonderland’, which had the
audience on their feet. Philip Bailey proved he is one of the greatest vocalists in the business, and
Verdine White must be the bass player with the most energy! All twelve members of the band were
brilliant and put on a fantastic performance.
The show was opened by funk soul band the Brand New Heavies, featuring original lead singer
N’Dea Davenport.
The evening was fabulous and both bands were great – definitely worth the journey to see them.

of the MUSICAL . . . ’ H O T S T U F F ‘
at the CURVE Theatre LEICESTER .
We let our intrepid crew member out and about again, this time at The Curve Theatre in
Leicester to see the outrageous musical Hot Stuff.
Hot Stuff tells the story of Joe Soap, an ordinary young man who will stop at nothing
to live the rock and roll dream. Joe sells his soul to the devil, played by female impersonator
Cheri Dupree, and loses his way and the love of his life while making it to the top.
The show features many hit songs from the 70′s and 80′s, from Peters and Lee to the Sex Pistols.
Dupree is brilliant as Joe’s devil manager in sparkly frocks and high heels, and includes
short comedy stand-up moments while the set is being changed for the performers.
At The Curve until 6th November (2010), and well worth going to see more than once.
