- . . . The Captain
Here at the RIPAL site , we intend to introduce a page for the local music appreciation society . . .i.e. YOU , the great unwashed of the attending public , residing in or around S.E. Cornwall or S.W. Devon , who support the open mic sessions and other various musical events , from small pub gigs to any major extravaganzas organised for our general enjoyment !
If anybody wishes to ‘pin’ their event on our board , then contact the ‘ Captain ‘ and let him know , in good time , what the event is all about , and IF he approves ( which he normally does ! ) he will be happy to include it in his Captain’s Log . . . We do favour 70’s and 80’s music here at Ripal , and would love to hear from Bands that are playing this type of music ! ( We might even do a little write up about you if you sound interesting . . . got to keep our two regular readers coming back for more , haven’t we ? ! )
The Captain is BACK ! … After suffering some personal nightmares , We are pleased to confirm , the bilges are pumped clean and the deck has been
re caulked , and hopefully he managed a new patch on his Life Raft ! !
See you soon ’Cap’n” . . . .
Remember , We are still looking for a couple of youngish singers to do some Demos for us , if you feel you are good enough to compete with the other thousands ! Then send us an MP3 of your vocal talents and we will give it a listen . . . Be NOT afraid . . . we are not here to judge , only to see if you are suitable for our needs , you might sing like a Nightingale in Berkley Square , but if we don’t need a Nightingale then you will be rejected ! ( It’s a tough life . . . ! )
Now then … now then … my friends . . . . What might this suggest to you ? Not much if you don’t live in the South West , but if you do , and love exciting live music , watch out for this band . .
J O K E R . . . is their name , and we will be asking them a few questions and forcing the odd anecdote out of them , we hope . . . for your amusement !
We will be listing their gig dates . . . so if you are within reach of any of the mentioned venues , try and get yourself along and grab a very entertaining few hours with the first of our local bands . . . under the ’ SPOTLIGHT ‘ !
LOG No. 5
Feb ( 01 ) 2010
Hello again and welcome to Captains Log number 5.
Well you certainly took as at our word and the
Audition tapes and mp3’s have been turning up fast and furious.
It’s been nice to meet a few of you face to face and
hear some of that talent we knew was out there.
please keep them coming.
Hopefully will bump into a few more of you
soon when I hit the road and get out to some of
those great open mic nights.
was speaking to Rob from the “lips” last week and
should be getting some of that into print for you soon.
Only seen one band recently bit of the man flu going
on but that was down at the Thistle Park Tavern and saw
SPLINTERS a four piece outfit, who rocked the house
some great sounds playing really good live music.
I will definitely be following them.
now the man flu is just about done will be catching up
with our other favourites.
All the Best
The Captain
